James Bowers MD FACP
Dr. Jim Bowers has been a physician in the Northwest for over 20 years. He started his career in healthcare as a nurse at Northwest Hospital in Seattle. He attended the University of Washington and received a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1984. After practicing nursing at Northwest Hospital he was accepted at the UW School of Medicine in 1987 and finished in 1991. He then completed an internal medicine residency at The Portland Program for General Internal Medicine including Chief Medical Resident from 1991-1994.
In addition to serving as an active staff physician at Northwest Hospital, Dr. Bowers served as Chief of Staff and Chief of Outpatient Medicine.
Dr. Bowers has been named as a Top Doctor in 2012 by Washington Magazine as well as Patient Choice Award in 2013. He has been elected as a Fellow of The American College of Physicians (FACP) in 2007.
He has taken coursework in diagnostic, bedside ultrasound and continues to further his education using this modality.
He is board certified in internal medicine and is re-certifying in internal medicine in 2014.
His healthcare interest is in P4 Medicine: The practice of predictive and preventive medicine in the 21st Century.
Dr. Bowers’ other passion is cooking. He attended The Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena, California in 2013 and continues to write a food blog in addition to his health blog.
