There are many natural products that can be used as remedies for skin conditions, rather than relying on prescription medications, or just suffering with irritating symptoms.  Some good ideas to try include the following:

Oatmeal- Good for soothing rashes and skin irritation caused by poisonous plants (ivy, oak etc).  Can relieve itching/pain from sunburns, chicken pox, bug bites.  Skin exfoliation.  HOW TO- Sprinkle dry oatmeal into lukewarm bath and soak for 10 minutes for soothing rashes and irritation.  For a skin exfoliant, mix with warm water, apply to face in circular motions.  Let mixture dry on skin, then rinse off.

Olive Oil- Good for hydrating skin, good for people suffering from psoriasis and eczema.  Also good in hair to battle split end, dry/brittle hair.  HOW TO- Start with 1-2 tablespoons (you can always add more later).  Massage into hair and scalp (if you have a dry scalp).  Apply shower cap and leave for 15 minutes.  Then shampoo hair (you may have to do this twice depending on how much olive oil is in your hair) and dry.  You can do this up to once a week

Honey- Can be used as antiseptic, helps to heal wounds, superficial burns, can help with acne.  Good skin moisturizer, common product in soap, lotions, lip balm.  HOW TO- Apply a thin layer of honey to your face (or just on specific acne problem areas).  Leave on as long as you wish, most people recommend 30 minutes.  Wash your face with luke-warm water and then again with cold water a few minutes later.  May take multiple times to see results.

Salmon- Eating salmon can help to rejuvenate skin.  It, and other cold- water fishes contain dimethlaminoethanol (DMAE), which is known to help firm skin and reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles.  HOW TO- Eat salmon or other cold-water fish liberally!

Green Tea- When applied to skin, it can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and helps maintain skin moisture.  HOW TO- Apply green tea bags damp with cold water to eyes for 10-15 minutes.

Aloe- Cooling and soothing, it can calm and heal skin effected by burns (especially sunburns).  It protects the damaged skin from bacteria as it hydrates and decreased inflammation.  HOW TO- For the best use, break a piece off of the plant and squeeze the gel from the plant directly onto burn

Pumpkin- Can help to rejuvenate skin by peeling away dead skin and increase speed of production of new cells.   Pumpkin is also rich in fatty acids, which can help hydrate the skin.  HOW TO- There are multiple options for using pumpkin on your skin.  The easiest way is to spread the flesh of the Pumpkin directly on your face, leave in place for 15 minutes, then wash off with warm water.  If you want to get a little more creative, there are many homemade recipes using pumpkin to moisturize and rejuvenate your skin.
